Chania is one of the four prefectures of Crete. Covering the westernmost quarter of the island, Chania attracts thousands of visitors every year. It borders with the prefecture of Rethymno to the east. The western part of Crete is washed by the Cretan Sea to the north, and the Mediterranean to the west and south.
